I do not want to have the speaker take away one of my two USB ports on my dongle which I can then no longer use for other things.ī. I can then have sound come out of the Soundbar, while I am connecting video to the monitor via HDMI. The current workaround I have is to plug the Soundbar's USB directly into my MacBook Pro. What I ideally would like is to connect my MacBook Pro to my P2415Q via HDMI, and then have the audio come out of the AC511 soundbar that is plugged in via USB to the back of the monitor. I am having the same issue! Very frustrating. The speaker is not working! What should I do?
Then I hooked up the headphone jack on my phone to the audio input on the soundbar via audio cable. So then I unplugged the speaker from the monitor, plugged the speaker USB into a usb power adapter for power only. Then I selected internal speaker on the computer. Then I connected the soundbar audio input directly to the headphone jack on the computer while leaving the speaker USB plugged into the monitor for power. So then I connected the soundbar morning audio input mini port on the speaker to the audio mini port output on the monitor. While the soundbar light is on, no sound came out with the monitor selected as the output device in the computer.
The speaker USB cable is hooked into the rear USB input of the monitor. The monitor is hooked up to an early 2015 Macbook Pro running OS 10.13.2 High Sierra via a monitor displayport to computer mini displayport (Thunderbolt). In the intervening eight months it has never worked. For Xmas was gifted an AC511 soundbar to go with my P2415Q monitor.
